Trainee – Risk Management & Valuation, Luxembourg

Role summary
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience within a leading and dynamic asset management company. As part of our Risk Management & Valuation team, you will be supported by experienced professionals and exposed to a broad range of activities across the risk and valuation functions.
It is an excellent opportunity for motivated students or graduates to discover whether a career in Financial Services and Asset Management aligns with their ambitions. This is a full‑time position based in Luxembourg and requires availability for 6 months to 9 months.
The primary purpose of the Risk Management & Valuation Team is:
- To monitor any risk that the “super” management company or the Fund may face.
- To ensure all funds under management follow their required valuation obligations.
Key responsibilities
- The main responsibilities of the trainee will encompass investment compliance, investment risk and valuation functions.
- Support the Risk Management department with daily risk analytics oversight for Luxembourg managed funds
- Perform risk assessment analysis across several asset classes, strategies for the entire fund range
- Support the Risk Management department in global and local projects through organisational tasks, operations, data analysis, and documentation
- Review risk results and risk profiles with local Senior Risk Managers and Head of Risk
- Contribute to the design and production of risk reports across UCITS and alternative strategies (private equity, real estate, hedge funds).
- Develop a strong understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to asset management.
- Build knowledge of fund investment processes and related risk exposures.
- Communicate effectively and contribute to a collaborative and professional team environment.
- Assist the valuation officer in its valuation tasks.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
- A University Degree in Economics / Finance with a strong willingness to develop its expertise is required;
- Professional certification may be an advantage;
- Know-how / interest in financial markets and financial products;
- Fluent in English (French is an advantage);
- IT: MS Excel skills (formulas and VBA);
- Structured Query Language (SQL): creation / correction of queries;
- Pro-activity, analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent attention to detail;
