Role summary
The Senior Manager is a key leadership role within Altum’s Real Estate team, responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of real estate clients, including funds, SPVs, and investment structures. The role holder will ensure the delivery of high-quality accounting services, lead a team of accountants, and contribute to the growth and development of the team and client relationships. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a deep understanding of real estate structures within the financial services industry.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of accountants, allocating work effectively and providing coaching to support technical development and career progression.
- Manage a portfolio of real estate clients, ensuring accurate maintenance of accounting records, timely reconciliations, and delivery of financial statements in line with IFRS, FRS 102, and other applicable GAAPs.
- Review and sign off annual financial statements and management accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the preparation, review and submission of VAT and CIS returns for client entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure accounting records for new entities are established promptly and in accordance with Altum’s procedures.
- Support fund operations including transfer agency, capital calls/distributions, and compliance with fund documentation and procedures.
- Coordinate audits for managed entities, preparing technical papers and liaising with auditors to resolve complex accounting issues.
- Conduct regular reviews of bank reconciliations and review of property manager reports, ensuring all items are resolved in line with internal controls.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of Jersey tax computations for relevant entities, working closely with tax advisors where necessary.
- Maintain and update client status reports for accounts preparation and audit progress.
- Provide hands-on technical support and supervision to the accounting team, particularly in the preparation of financial statements for complex real estate structures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities for service enhancement or new mandates.
- Support business development initiatives, including onboarding new clients and contributing to proposals and pitches.
- Organise and lead regular team meetings to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing, and team engagement.
- Support team members in their professional development, including mentoring and guidance through professional exams.
Expected skills / experience
- Minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in financial services, with a focus on real estate structures.
- Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, ICSA or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing or supervising accounting teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, FRS 102, and other applicable GAAPs, particularly in the context of real estate investment entities.
- Familiarity with fund operations, regulatory frameworks (e.g., AIFMD, FATCA, CRS), and tax compliance (UK, Jersey, VAT, CIS).
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-centric approach.

- Preferably, candidates should have experience with Yardi.
