IT Administrator – South Africa

We have an opportunity in our Cape Town office for an IT Administrator to support Altum Group’s technology environment and are looking for a technology enthusiast who is passionate about delivering high standards of client service to help Altum stand out as a leading business in our marketplace.
The role would suit someone with a high level of competence and familiarity with general infrastructure and modern office technologies, including Office 365, Azure, and Business Central. They will be responsible for supporting our business in delivering exemplary service to our clients, therefore need to be organised and comfortable with dealing with their colleagues or third parties on technical matters. Key responsibilities
First Line Support (circa 85%)
- Management of helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues, user queries, and enhancement requests;
- Set-up, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of IT hardware, including work stations, peripherals, and network devices;
- Support for core business applications (NavOne, Allvue, KYC360), responding to issues, and ensuring that these are being used consistently across the business;
- Liaise with business users via Teams, email, and face-to-face, with a friendly, approachable, and “can-do” attitude;
- Liaise with 3rd parties such as external IT service providers, software vendors, and other parties as required, to escalate issues for second and third level support;
- Champion the business’ continuous improvement programme, identifying opportunities to embed changes supporting the overall IT strategy;
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the IT team and wider business, and generally act in the best interests of the Group by supporting team members.
Other Operational Support (circa 15%)
- Assist with testing and validating system upgrades prior to release to the business and support the training of business users on any new functionality
- Assist with testing when new systems are deployed
- Assist with data migration and population of any new or replacement systems
- Seek to identify any repeating errors or issues that stem from a lack of operational rigour or poor working practices in other parts of the business and report to management
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a good standard of oral and written English, along with the following skills and experience:
- Holding a minimum A-level (or equivalent) qualification in IT and/or computing related field, or currently working towards a suitable professional qualification.
- A university degree in computer science, information systems or a related field would be preferred.
- Demonstrable interest in technology and innovative solutions, and a desire to work in an IT role within the financial services industry.
- Experience working within a formalized governance framework.
- A modern understanding and experience of information security practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with NavOne or Allvue systems is a distinct advantage, but not a requirement.
- Driver’s license / own transport is preferred.
