Role Summary
The Finance Officer’s role, acting on a Assistant Manager level, is to support the Head of Finance in delivering an effective support service across each of Altum Group’s locations. They will have a range of responsibilities and will be adaptable, managing workload to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Keeping accurate records for daily transactions across multiple companies and jurisdictions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and expenses;
- Processing monthly, quarterly and ad hoc billing runs working with the business to ensure billing is carried out accurately;
- Keeping accurate monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation records for all Balance Sheet items;
- Carrying out monthly and quarterly Financial Controls as required, including on revenue lines, cost lines and Balance Sheet lines;
- Reconcile bank statements and understand the cashflow;
- Liaising with 3rd parties such as vendors, auditors and tax advisors as required;
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
- Ensuring statutory filings are completed within applicable deadlines;
- Performing other duties as necessary to support the Finance team and wider business and generally act in the best interests of the division by supporting team members;
- Supporting the business with development of meaningful management information, to ultimately influence key business stakeholders in the decision making process;
- Working with Finance and wider Altum teams to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy;
- Assisting with reviewing and implementing financial policies where necessary;
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues both in immediate department and wider departments/jurisdictions as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in the Financial Services Industry
- Hold a suitable professional qualification (SAICA, SAIPA etc.)
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
- Ability to motivate and to lead others by example.
