Role summary
As a Client Director within the Altum Group, you will act as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of high-value family office clients. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional client service, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance. While you will have some management responsibilities, your primary focus will be on client engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Conduct business development activities, including preparing fee proposals, liaising with intermediaries, and pitching to prospective clients.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of family office clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
- Provide independent technical and strategic guidance to client entities, upholding the highest level of corporate governance and proactively identifying opportunities for clients.
- Deliver expert advice on trust, company, and estate structuring, with a comprehensive understanding of Jersey-specific legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a director on client entities, providing oversight and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and best practices.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, intermediaries, and other stakeholders, acting as the main point of contact for all client matters.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance client service, introduce new products, and grow client relationships.
- Oversee the drafting and review of key client documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and provide timely updates and advice to clients.
- Support the management team by contributing to strategic initiatives and business development activities as required.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members, supporting their professional development and ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Participate in performance management processes for direct reports, including objective setting and feedback, as appropriate.
- Support management team with the delivery and implementation of divisional strategy and business targets
- Demonstrate the ability to simultaneously be entrepreneurial and drive the business forward while keeping it under prudent control.
- Generate innovative ideas that challenge the status quo but are strategically sound, and encourage others to demonstrate innovation.
- Developing the general profile of Altum in market and participating in ad hoc projects to assist the principals with growing the business.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of personal time in line with group procedures and agreed recoverability.
- Oversight of WIP review on client portfolios ensuring any ad hoc fees are considered.
- To identify and build new business lines that increase revenue and distinguish Altum Group.
- Drive forward change within your division and, where relevant, across the Altum Group, linking initiatives to increased profitability.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, using authority and influence appropriately, and demonstrates the ability to lead and direct the efforts of others to achieve results.
- To maintain a knowledge of the external business environment and relevant industry specific trends and provide industry updates and advice to clients.
- Share and communicate technical knowledge to others within the Altum Group
Expected skills/experience
- Relevant and recognised professional qualification (per Table 4 requirements).
- Minimum 7 years’ experience at a senior level within offshore financial services.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain trusted client relationships.
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness.
- High commitment to corporate governance and regulatory standards.
- Ability to scrutinise and understand complex legal documentation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of Jersey-centric estate structuring and trust industry legislation.
- Ability to develop relationships and inspire client and colleague confidence.
- Ability to challenge the status quo, question and probe.
- Strong degree of business acumen.
