Role summary
We are looking for an experienced portfolio manager to support our fast-growing client book to manage alternative investment funds investing in illiquid assets. This role involves active participation in investment decision-making, ensuring proposed transactions are thoroughly reviewed against fund documentation, market practice and regulatory/tax requirements. Additionally, the role requires engagement with stakeholders such as clients, investment advisors, GP boards and service providers, to ensure seamless investment processes. Technical knowledge, strategic project management, operational efficiency and responsiveness are key aspects, driving client satisfaction and performance within the financial services sector.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver prompt and quality support to clients
- Upon onboarding, reviewing fund documentation and investment advisory agreements from a portfolio management perspective; attending calls to explain and tailor the investment process; drafting and negotiating template recommendation letters, investment check-lists, operating memoranda and other relevant documents necessary to properly prepare the start of operations
- After onboarding, reviewing investment recommendations as and when they are presented, analyzing all attached documents, asking for further information where relevant, preparing approval letter / investment committee pack, and presenting the file to the investment committee
- Active contribution to investment committees
- Provision of all operational tasks linked to the investment management function of the Company, with a focus on the alternative investment funds following an illiquid investment strategy
- Support on Project Management in relation to the investment management function
- Investment compliance monitoring (on a pre- and post- trade basis) for all investment vehicles under management
- Ensure that all identified issues have been reported, corrected and preventive solutions have been implemented
- Support the alternative investment funds legal advisers in the review of legal documents when required
- Review and implementation of service level agreements with the alternative investment funds and central administrators / depositary banks
- Control budget and fees (including due diligence costs)
- Respond to client-specific requests/inquiries and proactively anticipate client needs
- Contribute to projects to improve operational flows and costs management
- Although the focus will be primarily on portfolio management for illiquid strategies, the role may include helping with the investment management of liquid funds and/or helping with the client service management for a selection of funds
Knowledge/skills/experience
- Master’s in Finance, Economics or equivalent
- Solid understanding of Luxembourg alternative funds structures and investment strategies
- At least 5 years of relevant experience
- Excellent computer literacy, word processing and spreadsheet skills are essential
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Other languages, particularly German or Italian, would be a clear advantage
- Experience or awareness about the tax/sustainability rules applicable to Luxembourg alternative investment funds would also be appreciated
