Role summary
As a Client Director within the Altum Group, you will act as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of high-value clients. You will be responsible for delivering exceptional client service, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance. You will have responsibilities to manage the team’s workflows with sound people management skills, and to provide technical accounting and financial reporting guidance to the accountants within team. An important element of the role is ensuring client engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Part of the role is to conduct business development activities, including preparing fee proposals, liaising with intermediaries, and pitching to prospective clients.
Key responsibilities
- Support management team with the delivery and implementation of divisional strategy and business targets;
- Demonstrate, share and be recognized for technical excellence in your specialist area and expertise in other relevant business and operational areas of Altum Group;
- Consult appropriate colleagues when undertaking work outside own area of expertise to ensure compliance and minimize risk;
- Act as ’relationship manager’ on a portfolio of client entities to ensure that they act according to their guiding principles and within corporate and regulatory constraints and good practice;
- Demonstrate knowledge of corporate governance requirements, internal compliance, anti-money laundering and other relevant policies and procedures;
- Understand that you are part of Altum’s first line of defense and follow policies and procedures relevant to your client portfolio. Highlight any unusual, unexpected or suspicious activity that you become aware of;
- Provide independent technical and strategic guidance in the capacity of board member of client entities, at all times upholding the highest level of corporate governance and being prepared to challenge, where appropriate;
- Demonstrate the ability to simultaneously be entrepreneurial and drive the business forward while keeping it under prudent control;
- Contribute to the drafting of procedures and other internal documents;
- Review and propose recommendations for improving Altum’s gross profit including review of client revenues and identification of new products or billing opportunities on existing clients;
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of personal time in line with group procedures and agreed recoverability;
- Review of underlying teams time recording, ensuring accuracy and adherence with group procedures and agreed recoverability;
- Oversight of WIP review on client portfolios ensuring any ad hoc fees are considered;
- Oversight and management of client fee collection in a timely manner across your client portfolio;
- Work with management team to drive change and efficiency initiatives both within your division and other divisions and jurisdictions;
- Demonstrate a collegial allegiance to the management team, publicly supporting decisions regardless of personal opinion and behaving with the utmost professionalism at all times;
- Generate innovative ideas that challenge the status quo but are strategically sound, and encourage others to demonstrate innovation;
- Drive forward change both within your division and, where relevant, within Altum Group;
- Manage performance of direct reports through the performance management process, including performance review meetings and objectives setting;
- Build commitment of team members through fair, consistent and persuasive behavior, embracing ideas and setting SMART objectives to be utilized by the division;
- Communicate clearly and effectively, using authority and influence appropriately, and demonstrate the ability to lead and direct the efforts of others to achieve results;
- Demonstrate the ability to focus on the commercial needs of the Altum Group while acting responsibly towards other stakeholders;
- Develop the general profile of Altum in the marketplace and participate in ad hoc projects to assist the principals with growing the business;
- Maintain a knowledge of the external business environment and relevant industry specific trends and provide industry updates and advice to clients.
Expected skills / experience
- Holding a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree;
- Holding relevant and recognized professional qualification (ACCA, CPA or similar);
- Minimum 7 years’ working at senior level (Manager and above) with a Luxembourg employer in a relevant role;
- Strong understanding of real estate structures and related financial reporting. Experience with other asset classes is an asset;
- Ability to scrutinize and understand complex legal documentation;
- Minimum of 2 year experience holding director roles;
- Ability to develop relationships and inspire clients with confidence;
- Ability to challenge the status quo, question and probe;
- Strong degree of business acumen;
- Highest commitment to corporate governance standards, detailed understanding of risk management and compliance;
- Ability to prioritize and deal with conflicting and demanding deadlines;
- Role model with leadership skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and develop others;
- Ability to provide training/mentoring to team members and other colleagues in key areas of expertise.
