Role summary
Recruiting an assistant manager / manager for the Luxembourg Corporate Team with real estate accounting and reporting experience. The candidate should be a motivated self-starter with experience in SPV accounting, real estate structures, with exposure both to IFRS and Luxembourg GAAP. Ability to manage local and virtual teams is required.
Responsibilities
Accounting
- Manage general accounting for corporate SPVs, holdcos, propcos, joint ventures.
- Review/post journal entries, including closing journal entries.
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the client files for accounting matters:
- preparation/review of periodic reporting and annual accounts;
- jurisdictional oversight of accounts prepared by virtual team;
- answer client queries to accounts;
- preparation of reconciliations and complex booking entries;
- accounting support to the tax workstream.
- Produce and/or review consolidated financial reports (monthly / quarterly / annually) using IFRS or Lux GAAP and liaise with clients, property managers and third-party service providers.
- Conversion of trial balance data between Lux GAAP/IFRS.
- Manage and oversee statutory filings and preparation of annual accounts.
- Review bank reconciliations and manage cashflows for administered structures.
- Assist with invoice approvals and transaction payments.
- Assist with relevant tax, regulatory and statutory reporting with the support of third-party service providers.
- Act as internal point of contact for third-party matters (auditors, tax consultants etc.) to answer any questions within relevant business area and help with ad hoc requests as needed, ensuring relevant information is provided in a timely fashion.
- Partner closely with client staff and external advisors throughout the transaction process.
Team management
- Support the team in sharing your knowledge and coach team members to contribute to their development.
- Support, manage and develop a team of highly skilled professionals in Luxembourg and virtually in Cape Town.
- Assist in organising team work in an efficient way to ensure all tasks are addressed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide technical accounting support and guidance to more junior staff.
- Prepare and use trackers of various deliverables, work towards KPIs.
- Actively participate in the billing process, understand client fee structures and analyse discrepancies.
- Participate in the objective setting and performance review process of your team members.
Profile requirement
- A degree in economics, finance or accounting (or similar studies).
- An experience between 4 to 7 years within an accounting department, with exposure to real estate structures.
- Strong knowledge of Lux GAAP and prior exposure to IFRS. Understanding of other accounting principles and consolidation will be considered as an additional significant asset.
- Strong financial/accounting and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Luxembourg income tax and VAT principles.
- The ability to build strong and lasting relationships with your clients.
- The ability to manage, develop and retain a team of skilled accounting professionals.
- Commitment and eagerness to share your knowledge with a young and multicultural team.
- Strong organizational and people skills.
- The ability to identify service opportunities to existing and prospective clients.
- Fluency in English. French or German would be considered an asset.
- Experience in Yardi, Bob50/Sage, NavOne and Allvue is an asset but not required.
